Requirements=You
need DHCP for the firsat time, becouse there is almost *no* way
to find out your IP - finding a operator there who knows it is
VERY HARD. That software is provided with modem (for Windows /
Mac)
Special Limitations:
One
of ports needed by NFS is blocked. No bandwith limit - except
"Fair Usage" - NetBios ports are Blocked
Comments:
The
cable & modem part installation is mostly OK (done by contractors,
that's why). I have Linux so I fixed my box myself. As an ISP
they are bad. Modems lose "synchronization" approx once a day,
routes to rest of Internet are bad (sometimes my route to neighbouring
Germany goes over US), DNS machines crash, They use MS server
which often crash over weekend - no restart till monday... pretty
bad ISP. Service support is Windows/Mac only and bad. Usuall advice:
"Check your wires, turn off/on the modem and restart your machine)
Billing problems are even worse - they hold firmly 1.st place
on "Vienna's Consument Protection" black list. If you're a student,
you can use your university routes to Internet - but it is unclear
how do they re-route you (They keep telling about proxys all the
time.)
