Install Requirements=They will give you a hard time about installing
on a server, and you can't have a network. I had 7 PC's in the
room, but unplugged the hub and wires then put them in the closet.
The techs they send suck, I threw him out after watching him butcher
my server for 2 hours and just finished the install. The tech
had never heard of "ping" to test my connection.
Works on Win95, 98, NT Server and Workstation, Mac and Linux/Unix
Special
Limitations:
The service has had some outages, but over all its pretty good.
It is a switched network, and I don't have alot of people on my
subnet. They don't block any ports, but speed in a little inconsistent.
I host a ton of shit (Q2, Tribes, WWW, FTP, SMTP, SSL etc..) but
never have a problem. There are a ton of hops getting off Cox's
network, and depending where I am going I usually pass both BBNPlanet
and AT&T backbones after 6-10 Cox Hops. TZO works :-)
Netbios Ports are Blocked.
Comments:
I hear from Friends
I work with that other cable modem providers are better, but this
is the only one I have been on. They have a 3 meg file attachment
limit on mail. I have never had a protocol related problem, I
even backup friends servers over the internet with Legato. I have
created NT Trust relationships and printed to others printers
over it. If you know networking, this is a true connection, with
pretty good speed and stability.
