The Ugate 3000 domain name screen shows the Dynamic DNS options. The Ugate 3000 users have the option to enable 1 free year of the Dynamic DNS Service, and also have the option to upgrade the service to get a private domain name.

Although the Ugate 3000 does not currently support VPN, the Road Runner login now offers compatibility with the popular cable modem provider. Umax was once known for their great scanners, and now they are known for their great networking products as well. Keep an eye on Umax, these guys are going places!

Overall, the Ugate 3000 is 100% rock solid and is packed with great features. This product is one of the strongest contenders in the Cable/xDSL sharing market, and many users looking for a quick and simple solution will find the Ugate 3000 a winner. TIPS for using the Umax UGate 3000:

*Users with LanCity Cable Modems with Mediaone or other ISP's using LanCity Cable Modems typically need to call their ISP's and tell them the new MAC Address of the Umax Ugate 3000. Since Most ISP's don't like you to share the network connection with other PC's, you should tell them you are installing a new network card or upgrading the network card in your PC. They will then Provision the Cable modem to speak with the new MAC address of the Ugate 3000 WAN Port.

*Since the Ugate 3000 includes the Dynamic DNS service, users can also choose to upgrade the Ugate.Net Dynamic DNS service. The Dynamic DNS upgrades are available directly from TZO.COM, and a user can upgrade to a private domain for less than $60 per year. You can find out more about the premiere service and other Upgrades at TZO.COM

*Some users with Cable or xDSL modems (Such as the LanCity Cable Modems) may need to turn on their DHCP Client within the Ugate 3000 so you can obtain an IP address from the DHCP server of the ISP. Some cable and xDSL modems actually have a DHCP client/server inside, very similar to the Ugate 3000.
